I benefited from receiving such excellent support from Mrs. Diana during my college application process. Since English is not my first language, my essays needed a lot of improvement, whether in the use of language, the flow, or to express my ideas more clearly. In every detail, Mrs. Diana always assisted me, helped me understand, and guided me through everything. She answered all of my questions and explained what I needed to be aware of during the entire process. She even helped me with things like major selection. I felt I could ask her anything that I was uncertain about. I got so much benefit out of working with you when it came to my essays and brainstorming because I didn’t know what to include to strengthen the different supplemental essays for the colleges that I applied to. I learned how to be more resourceful with the limited word counts. As a first-gen student, I didn\u2019t know anything about the college application process. Luckily, I was fortunate to work with Diana through the Matchlighters Program. Throughout the eight months I spent applying to colleges, Diana helped me craft a well-balanced college list, brainstorm, draft, edit, and revise my essays until they were ready for submission. Diana always offered insightful comments on my work and consistently provided tremendous care for her students. Thanks to her, I was able to get into 17 out of the 18 schools I applied to! Mrs. Rewinski had a bunch of helpful tips when I was researching the right colleges for my list. She also helped with revising my essays for college applications. I would write a rough draft and she would make suggestions that helped me improve them, but she always stressed how important it was to keep my “student’s voice”. As a low income high school student, I was completely lost in the college application process. Thankfully, I found Diana and the Matchlighters Scholars program to help guide me. Together, we worked on a vast majority of tasks pertaining to college applications. From resume building to interview preparation, I strengthened my skills. Furthermore, I improved my writing and learned how to express my thoughts clearly on paper. Overall, spending the past few months with Diana was truly a blessing.
